As the month starts you may feel a nagging sense that you should push ahead with contacting everyone you know thanks to Mercury in your solar tenth house of career until 9 May. Affected – although not conjuncted by Uranus, who will be there now for years – you’re busy working on projects that can propel you in the spotlight. Interestingly though, with Venus in your solar twelfth house of secrets now until August, you’ll actually do better if you take it gently, take people’s advice, and listen to some wise old gurus. So a great career opportunity that may come up around 3 May may have been sent to you via a loyal supporter, or may be one that you need to ease yourself into slowly. If it “feels” right, then it is. Be aware that very shortly afterwards on 5 May, Mercury squares off against Saturn which may create a work-family toss-up with you as piggy in the middle.

The very next day is a Full Moon, but it’s opposing your Sun from the solar eleventh house of friends and group activities. Perhaps your partner feels you’re partying too much without him/her, or vice versa, or you want to change how you socialize as a couple. Some single Cancerians may realize they’ve avoided the whole dating world, content instead to hang out with their bestie! With the Sun, Mercury and Jupiter in your solar eleventh house until 21 May, after 9 May and all month respectively, the first half of the month at least seems to be jam-packed with social engagements! Your phone is ringing off the hook with delicious invites, one of which may be from an exotic friend or in relation to an interstate or overseas trip you’re doing as a part of a group or to see friends who live abroad, on 10 May.

Please accept all invitations on 13, 14 and 22 May. Someone you see – or meet – on 13 or 22 May is a big-hearted, fun, enthusiastic, possibly well-travelled type who’ll take a great shine to you. You normally take your time to warm to people but you can trust this one. They’re also hardworking and kind of blunt! You can expect to make fast friends with them now. If you’ve ever thought of joining a club, association or network of some kind with like-minded souls, there is no better stars for you to do it than today. On 14 May, take the time to contact your mates. The friends you see and those you meet today may become powerful allies and peers. If you’re a single Crabbie, this is an excellent day for your friends to match-make you or to try your luck at speed-dating while married Cancerians can cheerfully broach some of their dearest wishes – even if they seem a bit extreme – to their partners. In fact, the more taboo, the better, as they’ll be more receptive than usual today.

You already know that you’re likely to hide your love away with Venus in your solar twelfth house of secrets until August. But she will play even more peekaboo by going retrograde from 15 May-1 July. During this six-week period, someone you love may be – or feel – out of touch with you while if you begin relationships during this time, the person you fell in love won’t seem quite as attractive, or perhaps be as available – once Venus goes direct. If you are happily ensconced with someone, you may decide to knock back most social invitations and be lucky enough to pull the blinds down, switch the phones off and stay sexily out of sight for a while.

Venus is joined in your solar twelfth house by the Sun from 21 May and Mercury from 25 May. It seems that with Venus going back over old ground, when she trines Saturn (also going backwards) in your solar fourth house of home and family on 17 May, you have a wonderful day to give and accept apologies about past hurts to heal family ties. An older family member may hold out the olive branch in a concrete way by giving you some money towards your home (deposit). In other cases, you may rethink your idea of buying, selling, moving, renovating or investing in a home with a better (confidential) offer.

You may drop out of sight from the New Moon of 21 May, as you spend the next four weeks gearing up for your personal New Year. You may be very tempted to avoid your responsibilities by going off on an interstate trip on 23 or 25 May but I think you’d be disappointed by the outcome. These two days are equally poor for getting legal advice: I am concerned that your legal adviser will not cross his t’s and dot his i’s then, leaving you exposed.

Even if you’re under the Cone of Silence on 27 and 28 May, it seems to be connected with your boss, a big organisation, the government, a major client or a headhunter. Again, you’re keeping it all on the down-low, but you’re likely to receive – and give – some exciting, unexpected news which could change your status quite quickly. Don’t take it too personally if someone snaps at you on 30 May.
