Have you had some rather unusual discussions with your partner lately? Been shocked by what they’ve – or you’ve – said? Met a rather eccentric character if you’re single?  You can blame Mercury in your solar seventh house of relationships which is being teased by Uranus, who will be here for years. You may meet someone from a foreign background or be excited about a holiday with your partner on 3 May but if you’re not planning to get away, you may instead be discussing a pre-nup arrangement or doing the necessary paperwork, such as changing your name if you’re getting (or have recently) married. But marriage could seem like a noose around your neck on 5 May when you may both feel disenchanted with each other, or more realistically, reality.

But cheer up! You may be about to get a big fat cheque, refund, dividend or some type of benefit thanks to being part of a couple, with the Sun in your solar eighth house of shared resources until 21 May, joined by Mercury on 9 May and Jupiter all month. There’s a little tension regarding ye olde “what’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine” scenario on the Full Moon of 6 May – have one of you been going hard on the credit cards?!

People you know (who know you need some assistance), may tell you of a wonderful new role, offer you freelance work, or suggest a lovely employee for your own business on 10 May. If you’ve had a few health issues lately or if you’ve made a big improvement, such as quitting smoking, telling your insurance provider that could get you a refund or a better deal, too.

Your joint bank accounts should grow in leaps and bounds on 13, 14 and 22 May thanks to a dividend, refund, rebate, commission cheque, eBay sale, member’s discount, or special offer, and if you’ve been mentioned in someone’s will, a payment may come through then. It seems that some of these financial opportunities are ones which you must hug to yourself, possibly to prevent jealousy. On 14 May particularly, the money seems to originate from a rich family member, your home, an investment property or antiques. By teaming up with others now, you could buy something that has been seriously undervalued. You seem to get another inside tip opportunity for real estate investment on 16 May – pay attention.

Your ruler Venus has begun her mammoth four-month stay in your solar ninth house of travel where she will stay until 7 August which may prompt you to press your nose against the Flight Centre window, dreaming of romantic escapes to Paris and lazing by pools, twirling cocktail umbrellas in a chilled mojito. Married Librans may wish for a holiday sans l’enfants while single Scales may hope to be swept off their feet overseas. However, Venus goes retrograde from 15 May to 1 July which may delay your departure or take loved ones out of your life for a while, thanks to a trip. When Venus is retrograde here, holidays and honeymoons just don’t seem as romantic.

A lovely trine between Venus and Saturn on 17 May suggests travel with a serious purpose. You may tag a lovers’ holiday on the back of a work trip, use it to see aging and/or ill relatives who live far away, plan a getaway to discuss issues within your relationship, or decide an exotic location is the perfect place in which to propose.

The Sun and Mercury will check in with Venus from 21 May and 25 May respectively. As soon as the New Moon of 21 May, you may book a holiday, with interstate or overseas trips on the horizon over the next four weeks. If you have to do a work hand-over of any kind, don’t believe your temporary placement when he or she says he/she understands what needs to be done on 23 and 25 May. They will make mistakes, forget to do things and generally make your holiday a distant memory when you discover the business mishaps that occurred while you were away. Since the ninth house also correlates to legal affairs and publishing, new employees hired then could waste your time in future legal cases (most likely around workers’ compensation) while you should also avoid letting yourself or your workers publish anything important then.

You’ll have a much happier, more exciting time if you depart on 27 or 28 May. These dates scream of sudden decisions (“Guess what? I’m off to Rio”) and unexpected opportunities, particularly via friends and groups or clubs. Some of you may get engaged to a foreign-born lover after a whirlwind courtship now. If anyone tries to stop your trip on 30 May, you will seethe – ever so elegantly of course. Don’t use the internet to mention your travel plans then either: burglars love facebook too.
